The Cathedral of Lima faces the Plaza Mayor in the historic center of Peru's capital and was built on the site of the city's first church, founded shortly after the Spanish founding of Lima in 1535. This 2017 photograph shows a detail of the cathedral, whose current structure reflects centuries of rebuilding after earthquakes.
