Khanaka Nodir Devon Begi. Bukhara
2023 Bukhara, Uzbekistan
Commissioned around 1620 by Nodir Devonbegi, vizier to the Bukharan ruler Imamkuli Khan, this domed khanaka served as a Sufi lodge for worship and meditation rather than formal instruction. It anchors the Lyab-i Hauz ensemble at the heart of old Bukhara, built alongside the pond that gives the square its name.
