Republican Palace Museum
2013 Khartoum, Sudan
The Republican Palace Museum in Khartoum occupies the historic palace complex on the Nile where General Charles Gordon was killed in January 1885 as Mahdist forces captured the city. The palace later served as the residence of Sudan's colonial governors-general and, after independence, its presidents. Photographed in 2013.
