Plac targowy przed meczetem Bibi- Chanym - Samarkanda
1890 Samarkand, Uzbekistan
A busy market square unfolds in front of the Bibi-Khanym Mosque in Samarkand, photographed around 1890. Built in the late 14th century under Timur, the mosque was one of the largest in the Islamic world and stood along the ancient Silk Road trade routes that passed through the city.
