Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta is one of the great works of medieval Georgian Orthodox architecture, completed in the 11th century on the site of Georgia's earliest churches. Mtskheta served as the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Iberia, and the cathedral remains the spiritual center of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
