Tsminda Sameba, the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, was consecrated in 2004 to mark the bimillennium of Christianity in Georgia and the nation's post-Soviet independence. Rising on Elia Hill above the capital, it is among the tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world and was built largely through public donations.
