The bay and harbor of Valparaiso, Chile, seen in 1960 from the visiting Dutch naval squadron Smaldeel 5 during its world voyage. The port, built across steep hillsides above the Pacific, was Chile's principal harbor for much of the 19th and 20th centuries.
