"9 April Memorial" statue at the Kutaisi central park
2025 Kutaisi, Georgia
This 2025 photograph shows the '9 April Memorial' statue in Kutaisi's central park, Georgia; April 9 commemorates the 1989 Tbilisi tragedy, when Soviet troops broke up a pro-independence demonstration, a date still observed as a national day of remembrance in Georgia.
