Detail of a street in Cusco - Peru
2023 Cusco, Peru
This close-up shows a section of Inca polygonal stonework incorporated into a building along a street in Cusco, Peru. Precisely cut and fitted stone blocks form the base of the wall, while a whitewashed cornice and terracotta tile roof were added above the original Inca foundation during the colonial period. Such combinations of Inca and Spanish colonial construction are common throughout Cusco's historic center.
