Fort Christiansborg Castle 10
2023 Accra, Ghana
Danish traders built Fort Christiansborg on a cliff above Osu in 1661, naming it for King Christian IV, and used it in the trade of gold, ivory and enslaved people. The fort later passed to Portuguese, Akwamu, British and eventually Ghanaian control, serving for decades as a seat of government.
