Fort Christiansborg Castle 7

2023 Accra, Ghana

Overlooking the Atlantic at Osu, this Danish-built fortress dates to 1661, when Denmark-Norway acquired the site from the Ga king Nii Okaikoi. Sold to the British in 1850 after Denmark abolished its slave trade, the castle went on to house the offices of Ghana's head of state for much of the twentieth century.
