St. Alexis Cathedral, Samarkand 06

Built in 1912 at the order of Tsar Nicholas II for a regiment stationed in Samarkand, St. Alexis Cathedral was among the last Orthodox churches raised in the city under Russian imperial rule. Converted into a dance hall after the 1917 revolution, it was returned to worshippers and reconsecrated in 1996.
