2008 Galle, Sri Lanka
Galle Fort's clock tower and the entrance to its bastion, known as the Cavalier, are shown in this 2008 photograph. The fort was built by the Portuguese and substantially expanded by the Dutch in the 17th century, and remains one of the best-preserved colonial forts in South Asia.
