La Koutoubia
2008 Marrakech, Morocco
The Koutoubia Mosque's minaret, completed in the late 12th century under the Almohad Caliphate, stands roughly 77 meters tall and remains the tallest structure in Marrakech. This 2008 photograph shows the minaret that has served as a model for other towers, including the Giralda in Seville.
