One of the gates of Fasil Ghebbi, the fortified royal enclosure in Gondar, Ethiopia, seen here in 2012. Built from the 1630s onward by Emperor Fasilides and his successors, the complex earned Gondar its nickname as the 'Camelot of Africa'.
