EU: Ruimte in het mausoleum van Timur te Samarkand (1900)
1900 Samarkand, Uzbekistan
The interior chamber of Timur's mausoleum in Samarkand is captured in this 1900 photograph. Known as the Gur-e-Amir, the tomb holds the remains of the fourteenth-century conqueror and several of his descendants, and its richly decorated interior was already a noted attraction for travelers by 1900.
