Ussher Fort 18
2023 Accra, Ghana
This fortification began as a Dutch trading post in 1649, expanded from an earlier factory built in 1642, and stood alongside other European forts on Ghana's coast during the era of the transatlantic slave trade. Transferred to British control in 1868, it was renamed Ussher Fort.
