One Pillar Pagoda
2012 Hanoi, Vietnam
Hanoi's One Pillar Pagoda, built to resemble a lotus blossom rising on a single stone column, traces its origins to the 11th-century Ly Dynasty and remains one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. The current structure is a reconstruction after wartime damage in the 1950s.
