Fasilidass Castle
2011 Gondar, Ethiopia
Weathered stone towers and battlements of Fasil Ghebbi, the fortress-city built by Ethiopian emperors in Gondar. Round turrets with domed roofs rise above crenellated walls, remnants of the royal enclosure that once housed the imperial court and gave the city its nickname as the Camelot of Africa.
