2012 Gondar, Ethiopia
The Church of Debre Berhan Selassie in Gondar, Ethiopia, photographed in 2012. Built in the late seventeenth century, it is noted for its ceiling covered in painted rows of winged angel faces and survived the Sudanese Mahdist raid that destroyed much of Gondar in 1888.
