Passengers from a Hamburg America Line (Hapag) cruise pose at Chion-in in Kyoto in 1913, near the temple's stone lanterns and adjoining Maruyama Park. Chion-in's main halls date to the seventeenth century and served as head temple of the Jodo Buddhist sect.
